The file to Word 16 format – all very confusing having the different versions with the same file extension. Does this mean that i may run into problem using the same template for both? I have updated I also am using both Word 11 and Word 16 and I really need some features of 11 that have not made it through to 16 (such as focus view and the ability to edit equations written in the oldīob, you suggested that Word 11 and Word 16 normal.dotm files are not interchangeable. I had styles set up the way I wanted and quite a few keyboard shortcuts which I didn't want I have changed the template file location within Word 2016 to point to my Word 11 normal dotm. (for Word 11) and one within Library/Group Containers/UBF8T346G9.Office I think I have resolved the problem, having found three normal.dotm template files, two within Library/Application support/Microsoft. īut in truth I have no idea where a normal.dotm is being picked up from. and in Library/Group Containers/UBF8T346G9.Office. I have looked in OSX library via Library/Application support/Microsoft. I don't understand themes at all – in fact I don't want themes, just the ability to set up my own style in the normal document and carry on.īut Word seems to insist that I work in the format it wants me to work in. New document in 2016 gives me Calibri 12 pt. I have both Word 2011 and Word 2016 on my mac.Ī new document opened in 2011 gives me Arial 11 pt

I don't want to have to set this up every time I open a new document and I am stumped. I can't see how I can change this to 11 pt. If I go into themes and click on Arial, I get 12 pt. I have changed the normal style in 2016 to Arial 11 pt (and saved it) but if I open a new document, I get back Calibri 12 pt. My stock normal template (which has worked for years) is Arial 11 pt. No matter what I try, my normal template (in Word 2016) keeps changing back to Calibri 12 pt as default.
